Christmas Using Non-Christmas Stamps- Shaker Card!

Today the SSINK Team will be doing something fun… making Christmas Cards using Non-Christmas Stamps!  Here’s what I came up with:

I guess the Beachy Christmas set is technically a Christmas Stamp Set.  But I thought this would work because I added the jar from Jar of Love Set.

This was my first time using this cute set.  My club members are pretty excited about this set- living on Maui.  Can’t wait to see what they all come up with!  When you see this post, I’ll actually be in Salt Lake City!!  And On Stage!!  Can’t wait.  I leave tomorrow (I’m writing this on Nov. 6th) and haven’t made any swaps yet!  I’ve still got a few hours.  I’d like to do something with this set and Blendabilities.  Stay tuned… we’ll see how many I get finished.

Here’s a close up of the Shaker part of the card.  So cute!!

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be sure & send some pictures of the Stampin’ Up! Event.  You can always visit my Facebook page to see more photos.

SSINK Favorite Holiday Catalog Suite: Quilted Christmas

My favorite Suite from the Holiday Catalog is Quilted Christmas!  The more I play around with it, the more ideas pop into my head!

This suite includes Christmas Quilt Stamp Set, Quilt Builder Framelits Dies, Quilted Christmas DSP, 1/4″ Ribbon and Stitched Felt Embellishments.

Recently I challenged my downline, the Maui Big Shots!, to start using their DBWS and to add an event to their blog.  Ramona Corson and Mary Green met the challenge, so this is one of the gifts they’ll receive from me:

I just love the Pizza Boxes!!  They’re sturdy and glossy white and simple to assemble.  They are the perfect size to hold a set of 3 X 3 cards.  And now there are 3 X 3 envelopes available for purchase!

I’ll be having a Quilted Christmas Suite Class on Monday, Nov. 27th at 10 am.  For $50, you’ll go home with the Christmas Quilt Bundle plus a pile of Stitched Felt Embellishments!

We’ll make 3 cards plus a 3-D item!  RSVP by 11/18 to hold your spot in this fun class.  One lucky attendee will win the Quilted Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!

SSINKspiration Merry Patterns

Today’s card is made using Merry Patterns Stamp Set.  I totally LOVE this set and have just begun to play around with it!

L4_MerryPatterns_Demo_100117_NA-SP-EU

This beautiful set is only available if you place a $300 order by yourself or by hosting a party.  The promotion is good through October 31st.  Please contact me if you need ideas on how you can get this cute stamp set!

Card Details:

  • Stamps:  Merry Patterns
  • Ink:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive
  • Paper:  Cherry Cobbler (base is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4, another piece on top (4 X 5 1/4), Merry Little Christmas DSP (2 X 5 1/4), scraps of Whisper White & Old Olive
  • Accessories:  Sparkle Embossing Folder, Layering Ovals Framelits, 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon- Old Olive, Wink of Stella for candle flames
  • Tips:  I stamped off one of the candle stamps, but they’re all actually cherry cobbler.  Except that one of them didn’t stamp well, so I stamped it in Old Olive then fussy cut the candle out!  I used the “masking technique” to cover the candles before stamping the greenery.

I haven’t even tried the deer stamp yet.  I just remembered, I did try this set another time using the sentiment, “Tis the Season”.  It looks like I did something really fancy, but the pink design in the middle is just a stamp!!

I started here because I just love her card!  But when I started playing around with the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies, my card ended up a lot different.  But I love the way it turned out!

The colors are Cherry Cobbler & Soft Sky.  Peace on Earth.  What a beautiful and appropriate sentiment for this Christmas!  You’ll find the supply list below.

#SSINKSC48 Sketch Challenge

Here’s a fun Sketch Challenge from the SSINK Team!  I love these challenges because they force me to come up with my own ideas.  Give it a try!!

To make this card, I basically started with some stamp sets I’d been wanting to play with:  Merry Patterns & Christmas Sweaters!  The Merry Patterns Set can only be earned by placing a $300 order through the end of October!!  Let me know if you have a big Wish List or would like to host a party!  I chose the colors by looking at the Quilted Christmas 6 X 6 DSP.  That’s a simple way to choose a color combo guaranteed to look great!

I don’t get a lot of use out of my sweaters here on Maui.  But my daughter, Malia, is spending her first winter in Syracuse, NY, where I hear it gets mighty cold!  She’s already made a request for sweater money.

Here’s a close up of that cute sweater…

Now head over to our SSINK Page to see what the other designers have done with this sketch!  Give it a try!!  We’d love to see what you come up with!

#SSINK Quilted Christmas Favorite Designer Series Paper

When my husband & I were first married (32 years ago!), we lived in Salt Lake City for 3 years.  What a great place to live!!  Great skiing & hiking so close to the city!  And great opportunities to learn how to quilt!  There was an amazing quilt store that I’d spend hours in, that offered quilting classes!  I started off by making stuffed hearts & a bear on a string that all had cute quilting.  Later I made a Christmas Tree Skirt where we’d hand-dyed angels all around it, then quilted by hand.  And after awhile, my sweet neighbor, Ardella, encouraged me to come over several days a week while she helped me make a Queen sized quilt!  We sort of adopted each other & she was like a mom to me & Pat early in our marriage.  We were so blessed to have her in our lives!

So it’s not surprising that I’ve been drawn to the Quilted Christmas Suite!  Beautiful stamps & Framelits that coordinate with Stitched Felt Embellishments, ribbon & Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!

Here’s the beautiful coordinating 6X6 Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper.  I love the non-traditional colors in there… blushing bride, lemon lime twist, and pool party!

Today’s Tutorial

  • Stamps:  Christmas Quilt
  • Ink:  Real Red
  • Paper:  Blushing Bride card base (5 1/2 X 11, score at 4 1/4), Real Red (5 3/8 X 2 3/4), Quilted Christmas DSP (5 3/8 X 2 1/2)
  • Accessories:  Stitched Felt Embellishments,  Whisper White Baker’s Twine

I’ll be having a QUILTED CHRISTMAS SUITE CLASS in October & hope you can attend!

ICS Blog Hop: Knotty Ways

I’m excited about today’s Inspire, Create, Share Blog Hop:  Knotty Ways!  We’ll be showcasing Stampin’ Up! Ribbon in a Christmas Theme!  I’ve used Foil Frenzy Paper which is shiny & gorgeous!  These are the first Christmas Cards I’ve made since last year… just love the holidays and all the special cards & gifts!

I used Christmas Pines stamp set which pairs with Pretty Pines Thinlits.  The leaves have such dimension!  The ribbon is 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon- Fresh Fig.  The accent pieces (Glitter Enamel Dots) add  just the right touch!

Here’s another one where you can see the shine in the Foil Frenzy paper.

Which card do you like best?  Leave a comment below & I’ll put your name in a drawing to win a set of GLITTER ENAMEL DOTS!  Glitter Enamel Dots

Don’t stop here!  Next on the ICS Blog Hop is Audra Monk, the Crafty Yogi.

Banner Day!

If you’ve been following my blog, you know I love banners!  Colorful…inspiring sayings…fun art!

I recently made an Aloha Banner.  I chose the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper basically because I wanted to use that beautiful shiny pattern for the pineapple!

Isn’t that fun?!!  Instead of the Banners Framelits I usually use, I tried this with the Lots of Labels Framelits.  I’ll show you a few photos from the ends:

I recently had a few of my downline ladies over to make banners of their choice.

Helen, Linda, & Destryee worked all day on their banners!!  I didn’t get pictures of all of them, but here’s Destryee’s Easter Banner:

Isn’t that beautiful?!  We all have a new appreciation for banners!!  It’s like making 20 different cards!  But the results are so great!

Here’s one I started on that day:

I’m pretty happy to have a Christmas Banner done!  It gets way too busy once we hit October…

I’d love to hear any comments you have!  Have any of you made a banner?

Thanks for stopping by…
