Alaskan Achievers Blog Hop for November!

Thank you for joining us on our Alaskan Achiever’s Blog Hop!  Those hopping today are Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all around the world who have achieved the prestigious Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip that only a limited number around the world achieve.

We will be hopping together once a month to show you ideas and designs using current Stampin’ Up! products.  I live in the United States (Hawaii) and would love to help you if you have any questions.

I have a Fun Fold Project to share with you today.  I copied the fold from my friend, Cathy Autrey, who sent me a beautiful card a while back.  Does anyone know the name of this fold?  It’s really cute & simple!

Beachy Little Christmas!  What a perfect stamp set for us Hawaiians!!  And I get to play with my new Stampin’ Blends!!  I used Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party, and Crumb Cake, and the markers come with a light and dark to make the coloring  come out great!  So easy to look like an artist!

Thank you for joining us today – we are so happy that you are taking part in our blog hop.  Make sure that you don’t miss out on one blog as there are some incredible designs you are going to see today to inspire you.  And please leave me a comment!!  It just makes my day to hear from my subscribers!

Step It Up! with Carols of Christmas

Today the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Team will be showing you ways to Step It Up!  This is a fun way to show your customers more options and embellishments!

I decided to start with a card I made last month using Carols of Christmas.

I liked this card mainly because of the star cutouts you get from the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies.  These come as a bundle with the Carols of Christmas Stamp Set.

Here you can see how I stepped it up!

Remember Highlights for Kids?  I used to love those magazines when I was little!  They always had a page where you were supposed to find the differences in the 2 pictures.

So here’s your challenge:  Find the 5 (yes, five!) ways I’ve STEPPED IT UP!  I’ll send you a Christmas Card in the mail as your prize!  Place your guess in the comments section below.

Thanks for stopping by today & be sure & go to the SSINK BLOG PAGE to see their ideas!

SSINKspiration Fun Fold Challenge: Waterfall Card

Today on the SSINK Blog we have a fun fold challenge for you… Waterfall Cards!

A waterfall card is a movable card!  Pull the ribbon and watch the stamped images flip one at a time!

For my card, I’ve used A Little Wild, a fun set that displays the front & back of an elephant, a bear, & a lion.  Super cute!!

I really need to make a video to show you this card properly!  But I’m not ready to do that quite yet…  Hope you get the idea from the pictures.

Be sure and go to the SSINK Blog Page to see more Waterfall Cards!!

#ICS Blog Hop Colors of Courage

I think all of us have had friends of family with cancer.  Such a tough thing to go through.  There’s no right or wrong way to navigate through that, but one thing I’ve seen over & over is COURAGE.  Courage and faith.

As I write this post, my dear friend, Chari, is going through her first chemotherapy for breast cancer.  I can’t be with her, but we keep messaging back & forth, and that helps a lot.  When I first moved to Maui, I didn’t know anyone & I attended a Christian Woman’s Club luncheon.  Chari sat next to me & I was so touched when she just came out & asked if we could be friends.  Sure!!  She & her husband were new to the island, also, and we all ended up spending lots of time together.  We all learned to windsurf, had babies, spend many years together on Maui until they moved to Washington.

Here’s a card for Chari:

Double Z Fun Fold Card

Measurements:

  • Card Base Wisteria Wonder – 4 1/4″ X 11″, scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″
  • Delightful Daisy DSP – two pieces at 2 1/2″ X 4″, one at 4″ X 5 1/4″
  • White layer – 3 1/4″ X 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ & 6 3/8″

God bless you, Chari!  You’ll get through this.  There are so many people who love you & are praying for you!!

This Little Piggy for SSINK

Today the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Team will be showcasing Animal Ideas!  I chose This Little Piggy!

Most of you probably think of playing “This Little Piggy” with your babies.  I think of something a bit different.  My dad was a HUGE Big Band Fan!!  I’d be trying to do homework after school and I’d be the one yelling at my dad to “Turn down the music!”.  Glenn Miller had a fun song called, “Boogie Woogie Piggy”  that we’d dance the jitterbug to.  That’s the song I sang to my babies when I’d tickle their toes!  Does anyone else remember that song??

Back to my card.  My daughter, Malia, actually gets the credit for this cute card!  She came up with this fun opening that has a 3rd circle on the inside for your personal note.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure & hop over to the SSINK Page to see more animal ideas!

I’ll leave you with a picture of my handsome dad, probably taken around the time I was a baby.

#SSINK Coffee Break

I’m a coffee person!  It’s the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning.  My morning ritual is to sip on coffee while browsing through my email & planning my day.  I’ve even got this thing that froths milk!  Makes me feel really pampered.

I needed a card to give a Coffee Gift Card to a friend.  This is what I came up with:

Stampin’ Up! has a fun bundle called Coffee Cafe’.  And the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper to go along with it is gorgeous!  Look at those colors!

And I love the fold of this card!!  See the place on the bottom to slip your Gift Card?

This is one of the cards we made recently at our Fun! Friends! and Fancy Folds! Retreat for my downline.

If you’d like directions, please leave a comment below.

Now head over to the SSINK Page to see some more Coffee Break Ideas!

#SSINKTC48: Ink on Embossing Folders

We have a fun Technique Challenge for you today for the SSINK Team… Ink on Embossing Folders!

This is my first time trying out this technique & I just love it!!  It’s simple & fast with great results!  Here’s my card:

Just used my brayer to spread some ink on the Brick Wall Embossing Folder!  I really like the way it turned out & can’t wait to ink up my other Embossing Folders!

Today’s Tutorial:

  • Stamps:  Spooky Cat
  • Inks:  Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
  • Paper:  Very Vanilla (4 1/4 X 11, score at 2 3/4 & 8 1/4) and inky embossed pieces (4 X 2 1/2- cut 2), Basic Black (2 5/8 X 4 1/8- cut 2), Spooky Night DSP
  • Accessories:  Cat Punch, Black Rhinestone Jewels
  • Notes:  The Spooky Night DSP has a page made to cut 3″ squares containing the tree with the moon behind it.  I cut those squares 2 7/8 so that they’d fit onto the biggest scalloped square from Layering Squares Framelits.

I can’t wait to see what other projects the SSINK Team has come up with!  Why don’t you give it a try?!!  ENTER OUR CHALLENGE HERE!

#SSINK Count My Blessings

Today the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Team will be showcasing favorite Stamp Sets from the Holiday Catalog!  My favorite, hands down, is Count My Blessings!  This set has beautiful artwork and can be used any time of year!

My team, the Maui Big Shots!, had a stampin’ retreat over Labor Day and this is one of the projects we made:

This is called a Vellum Luminary Card, and it’s very simple to make!  You put a battery- candle in the middle & it lights up.  So pretty!!  The sentiment and leaves are from Count My Blessings and the Designer Series Paper on the left side is Painted Autumn DSP.

I used a technique called “Stained Glass” on the vellum.  CLICK HERE to see directions from a previous card.

A Vellum Luminary would be really nice for Christmas!  Maybe you’ll see another one here in a month or two.

Don’t you just love the Holiday Catalog?!!  Be sure & go to the SSINK PAGE for more Holiday Favorites!

I really love Thanksgiving!  Yes, there’s the food.  My husband grills the turkey on the Weber every year & it has a slightly smokey flavor & it’s moist, & the best turkey ever!!

Here’s Anne Matasci & me ready for some turkey!

But there’s just something wonderful about pausing to reflect on your blessings for one whole day!  We had a tradition when the girls still lived at home where we had a Thankful Turkey that sat out for a couple of weeks.  You were supposed to fill it with little notes about things you were thankful for & then we’d read them aloud after dinner.  I’ve kept them all over the years & they’re really fun to read!!

One of my fun family memories is when we made Pat get involved with making a new Thankful Turkey.  He’s not really into crafting, but when he does it he doesn’t hold back!  He must have used 10 glue sticks gluing on those pompoms!  These pictures were taken over 10 years ago, by the way.

This is one turkey feather.

Today the Inspire, Create, Share Blog Hop is Introducing the Holiday Catalog!  I’ve chosen to focus on Thanksgiving!

Isn’t that the greatest sentiment?!!  And I just love the font!  The fall Designer Series Paper is called Painted Autumn & is full of fall colors, leaves, pumpkins, acorns, & pretty patterns.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure & keep hopping to get a chance to see more new ideas from the Holiday Catalog!  Your next stop is Nichole Loe & you’re in for a treat!  She always has great ideas!!

Fun Folds are my favorite!!!  And today at Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration we’re featuring a Double Z Card!  This is so simple & cute that you have to give it a try!!

Here’s how the card starts out.

But when you open it…isn’t that pretty?!!

I started out just wanting to use that gorgeous black background paper!!  That’s the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper.

Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper

I’ve seen a lot of variations on the Double Z Fold.  Some move the bottom strip up a bit and others have a wider strip.  Head over to the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Page to see more ideas using the Double Z Fold!
