#SSINK Coffee Break

I’m a coffee person!  It’s the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning.  My morning ritual is to sip on coffee while browsing through my email & planning my day.  I’ve even got this thing that froths milk!  Makes me feel really pampered.

I needed a card to give a Coffee Gift Card to a friend.  This is what I came up with:

Stampin’ Up! has a fun bundle called Coffee Cafe’.  And the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper to go along with it is gorgeous!  Look at those colors!

And I love the fold of this card!!  See the place on the bottom to slip your Gift Card?

This is one of the cards we made recently at our Fun! Friends! and Fancy Folds! Retreat for my downline.

If you’d like directions, please leave a comment below.

SSINK Fall Frenzy: Lovely As a Tree

Fall Frenzy is today’s theme for the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspriation Team!  I’m not feelin’ the “fall” here on Maui!  It’s just plain hot!

I came up with my card idea by following a sketch from Fab Friday.

Here’s my card:

I reached for the old standby… Lovely As a Tree then added a nice sentiment from Paisleys & Posies.  The leaf embossing in the background gives it just the right touch.  I’ve used sponges to give some color to the trees & grass.

Card #2

Here I used the Tree Rings background instead of textured leaves.  Which card do you prefer?  I’m trying to come up with ideas for the September Cards, Etc Class!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I’d really love to hear your comments to help me choose which card to make for class!

#SSINKTC48: Ink on Embossing Folders

We have a fun Technique Challenge for you today for the SSINK Team… Ink on Embossing Folders!

This is my first time trying out this technique & I just love it!!  It’s simple & fast with great results!  Here’s my card:

Just used my brayer to spread some ink on the Brick Wall Embossing Folder!  I really like the way it turned out & can’t wait to ink up my other Embossing Folders!

Today’s Tutorial:

  • Stamps:  Spooky Cat
  • Inks:  Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
  • Paper:  Very Vanilla (4 1/4 X 11, score at 2 3/4 & 8 1/4) and inky embossed pieces (4 X 2 1/2- cut 2), Basic Black (2 5/8 X 4 1/8- cut 2), Spooky Night DSP
  • Accessories:  Cat Punch, Black Rhinestone Jewels
  • Notes:  The Spooky Night DSP has a page made to cut 3″ squares containing the tree with the moon behind it.  I cut those squares 2 7/8 so that they’d fit onto the biggest scalloped square from Layering Squares Framelits.

I can’t wait to see what other projects the SSINK Team has come up with!  Why don’t you give it a try?!!  ENTER OUR CHALLENGE HERE!

Baby Framed Art

One of my dear friends is expecting a grand-baby very soon.  She’s requested a framed piece for baby’s name… with a hula girl!  I’ve been throwing this idea around & procrastinating for at least a month!  But baby will soon be here!

So yesterday I started playing around with the idea, trying to make it for boy or girl.  Here’s what I came up with:

I just love it & hope she does, too!!  You may be asking, “Where’s the hula girl?”  I know!  I’ve made a special one for her that she’ll have to put in the center square along with baby’s name.  I could have made a hula skirt for the mermaid!  Just thought of that!

Here’s a few closeup’s:

Definitely a Hawaii Baby Theme here!

If you’d like to make one, I’ll be offering a class soon!

BABY FRAMED ART CLASS

  • Saturday, October 7 at 10am
  • Frame not included (purchase 12 X 12 frame at Ben Franklin)

  • RSVP soon to hold your spot in class!  Class size will be limited to 6.  If there are enough requests, I’ll open up another class.

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll show you the mermaid hula girl soon!

#SSINK Quilted Christmas Favorite Designer Series Paper

When my husband & I were first married (32 years ago!), we lived in Salt Lake City for 3 years.  What a great place to live!!  Great skiing & hiking so close to the city!  And great opportunities to learn how to quilt!  There was an amazing quilt store that I’d spend hours in, that offered quilting classes!  I started off by making stuffed hearts & a bear on a string that all had cute quilting.  Later I made a Christmas Tree Skirt where we’d hand-dyed angels all around it, then quilted by hand.  And after awhile, my sweet neighbor, Ardella, encouraged me to come over several days a week while she helped me make a Queen sized quilt!  We sort of adopted each other & she was like a mom to me & Pat early in our marriage.  We were so blessed to have her in our lives!

So it’s not surprising that I’ve been drawn to the Quilted Christmas Suite!  Beautiful stamps & Framelits that coordinate with Stitched Felt Embellishments, ribbon & Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!

Here’s the beautiful coordinating 6X6 Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper.  I love the non-traditional colors in there… blushing bride, lemon lime twist, and pool party!

Today’s Tutorial

  • Stamps:  Christmas Quilt
  • Ink:  Real Red
  • Paper:  Blushing Bride card base (5 1/2 X 11, score at 4 1/4), Real Red (5 3/8 X 2 3/4), Quilted Christmas DSP (5 3/8 X 2 1/2)
  • Accessories:  Stitched Felt Embellishments,  Whisper White Baker’s Twine

I’ll be having a QUILTED CHRISTMAS SUITE CLASS in October & hope you can attend!

#SSINK Count My Blessings

Today the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Team will be showcasing favorite Stamp Sets from the Holiday Catalog!  My favorite, hands down, is Count My Blessings!  This set has beautiful artwork and can be used any time of year!

My team, the Maui Big Shots!, had a stampin’ retreat over Labor Day and this is one of the projects we made:

This is called a Vellum Luminary Card, and it’s very simple to make!  You put a battery- candle in the middle & it lights up.  So pretty!!  The sentiment and leaves are from Count My Blessings and the Designer Series Paper on the left side is Painted Autumn DSP.

I used a technique called “Stained Glass” on the vellum.  CLICK HERE to see directions from a previous card.

A Vellum Luminary would be really nice for Christmas!  Maybe you’ll see another one here in a month or two.

Don’t you just love the Holiday Catalog?!!  Be sure & go to the SSINK PAGE for more Holiday Favorites!

SSINK Paper Pumpkin Showcase

Last week I needed a couple of cards in a hurry.  Paper Pumpkin to the rescue!  I popped open my latest box and found all the products needed to make some  cute Thank You cards.

Sometimes I add a little extra to the cards.  Here’s the same card with a little bling:

These Thank You’s were for Beth & Mary, my helpers for our Maui Big Shots! Retreat that we had last weekend!  2 1/2 days of total creativity, fun, friendship (talking story- as we say in Hawaii) & great food!!  12 of my downline attended & we stayed at a condo on the beach in Napili.  I’m so blessed to have these women in my life- & what a fabulous time we had!!

Mary & Beth have been helping me plan & prep for about 4 months!  I made them these special Retreat Survival Kits!

Here we are after unpacking the van- finally relaxing.

Thanks, you guys!!!  I’m sure you’re pretty tired of my infamous “delegating skills”!!  Ha!

ICS Blog Hop Count My Blessings

I really love Thanksgiving!  Yes, there’s the food.  My husband grills the turkey on the Weber every year & it has a slightly smokey flavor & it’s moist, & the best turkey ever!!

Here’s Anne Matasci & me ready for some turkey!

But there’s just something wonderful about pausing to reflect on your blessings for one whole day!  We had a tradition when the girls still lived at home where we had a Thankful Turkey that sat out for a couple of weeks.  You were supposed to fill it with little notes about things you were thankful for & then we’d read them aloud after dinner.  I’ve kept them all over the years & they’re really fun to read!!

One of my fun family memories is when we made Pat get involved with making a new Thankful Turkey.  He’s not really into crafting, but when he does it he doesn’t hold back!  He must have used 10 glue sticks gluing on those pompoms!  These pictures were taken over 10 years ago, by the way.

This is one turkey feather.

Today the Inspire, Create, Share Blog Hop is Introducing the Holiday Catalog!  I’ve chosen to focus on Thanksgiving!

Isn’t that the greatest sentiment?!!  And I just love the font!  The fall Designer Series Paper is called Painted Autumn & is full of fall colors, leaves, pumpkins, acorns, & pretty patterns.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure & keep hopping to get a chance to see more new ideas from the Holiday Catalog!  Your next stop is Nichole Loe & you’re in for a treat!  She always has great ideas!!
