I’m a coffee person! It’s the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning. My morning ritual is to sip on coffee while browsing through my email & planning my day. I’ve even got this thing that froths milk! Makes me feel really pampered.
I needed a card to give a Coffee Gift Card to a friend. This is what I came up with:
Fall Frenzy is today’s theme for the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspriation Team! I’m not feelin’ the “fall” here on Maui! It’s just plain hot!
I came up with my card idea by following a sketch from Fab Friday.
Here’s my card:
I reached for the old standby… Lovely As a Tree then added a nice sentiment from Paisleys & Posies. The leaf embossing in the background gives it just the right touch. I’ve used sponges to give some color to the trees & grass.
Here I used the Tree Rings background instead of textured leaves. Which card do you prefer? I’m trying to come up with ideas for the September Cards, Etc Class!
Thanks for stopping by today! I’d really love to hear your comments to help me choose which card to make for class!
We have a fun Technique Challenge for you today for the SSINK Team… Ink on Embossing Folders!
This is my first time trying out this technique & I just love it!! It’s simple & fast with great results! Here’s my card:
Just used my brayer to spread some ink on the Brick Wall Embossing Folder! I really like the way it turned out & can’t wait to ink up my other Embossing Folders!
Stamps: Spooky Cat
Inks: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Very Vanilla (4 1/4 X 11, score at 2 3/4 & 8 1/4) and inky embossed pieces (4 X 2 1/2- cut 2), Basic Black (2 5/8 X 4 1/8- cut 2), Spooky Night DSP
Accessories: Cat Punch, Black Rhinestone Jewels
Notes: The Spooky Night DSP has a page made to cut 3″ squares containing the tree with the moon behind it. I cut those squares 2 7/8 so that they’d fit onto the biggest scalloped square from Layering Squares Framelits.
When my husband & I were first married (32 years ago!), we lived in Salt Lake City for 3 years. What a great place to live!! Great skiing & hiking so close to the city! And great opportunities to learn how to quilt! There was an amazing quilt store that I’d spend hours in, that offered quilting classes! I started off by making stuffed hearts & a bear on a string that all had cute quilting. Later I made a Christmas Tree Skirt where we’d hand-dyed angels all around it, then quilted by hand. And after awhile, my sweet neighbor, Ardella, encouraged me to come over several days a week while she helped me make a Queen sized quilt! We sort of adopted each other & she was like a mom to me & Pat early in our marriage. We were so blessed to have her in our lives!
So it’s not surprising that I’ve been drawn to the Quilted Christmas Suite! Beautiful stamps & Framelits that coordinate with Stitched Felt Embellishments, ribbon & Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!
Here’s the beautiful coordinating 6X6 Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper. I love the non-traditional colors in there… blushing bride, lemon lime twist, and pool party!
Stamps: Christmas Quilt
Ink: Real Red
Paper: Blushing Bride card base (5 1/2 X 11, score at 4 1/4), Real Red (5 3/8 X 2 3/4), Quilted Christmas DSP (5 3/8 X 2 1/2)
Accessories: Stitched Felt Embellishments, Whisper White Baker’s Twine
I’ll be having a QUILTED CHRISTMAS SUITE CLASS in October & hope you can attend!
Today the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Team will be showcasing favorite Stamp Sets from the Holiday Catalog! My favorite, hands down, is Count My Blessings! This set has beautiful artwork and can be used any time of year!
My team, the Maui Big Shots!, had a stampin’ retreat over Labor Day and this is one of the projects we made:
This is called a Vellum Luminary Card, and it’s very simple to make! You put a battery- candle in the middle & it lights up. So pretty!! The sentiment and leaves are from Count My Blessings and the Designer Series Paper on the left side is Painted Autumn DSP.
I used a technique called “Stained Glass” on the vellum. CLICK HERE to see directions from a previous card.
A Vellum Luminary would be really nice for Christmas! Maybe you’ll see another one here in a month or two.
Don’t you just love the Holiday Catalog?!! Be sure & go to the SSINK PAGE for more Holiday Favorites!
Today’s color challenge… I wasn’t sure about the Very Vanilla, but it works really well with the other colors! I love a Black & White card!! I have to say, after coming up with this card, the biggest challenge I have is that Basic Black wants to get all over my fingers!! Like a magnet! Does anyone else have this issue?
Anyway, I finally came up with a nice clean card, & I LOVE IT! What do you think?
These images are from a Host Set called Background Bits. The 2 1/4″ Flirty Flamingo square is textured using Garden Trellis Embossing Folder.
I’ve seen a lot of variations on the Double Z Fold. Some move the bottom strip up a bit and others have a wider strip. Head over to the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Page to see more ideas using the Double Z Fold!
Stampin’ Up! Host Sets are special because you are only able to order them after placing a $150 order! They are also offered at a reduced price- close to 1/2 off! You can do this by joining one of my clubs where you get to be the hostess when your turn comes around. Or you can host a workshop & invite your friends! I bring all the products & you supply the friends! It’s a great deal and always lots of fun! Let me know if you’re interested!
There are some beautiful Host Sets in the Annual Catalog and today I’m showing you a sample of my favorite: Tranquil Tulips.
It’s so simple to make a beautiful card using this set because it’s 2-Step Stamping! And notice how the images are not completely solid? That gives it a very pretty, artistic look!
The ribbon is 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon. Wish they had it in all the colors!!! But it’s only available in Night of Navy & Smoky Slate.
Here’s a different card- same stamp set:
Another gorgeous ribbon!! 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon in Bermuda Bay
Time to check out what the other Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration gals have to show you using Host Sets!
Today’s theme for Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration is Summer Fun! I’m using the stamp set called Message in a Bottle which is loaded with some cute images! A mermaid, whale, octopus & more… I chose to use the boat & put it in the bottle for a more masculine card.
These pictures aren’t the greatest because I can’t get my iphone to sync with my computer. Frustrating! But the cards are really cute…honest!
The white cardstock on top is the shimmer paper. I’ve embossed it with the 3-D Dynamic Textured Folder- Ruffled and then applied a watercolor wash using Soft Sky Ink. The bottle was fussy cut & popped up using dimensionals.
