Black Magic Technique

Not so Spooky Raven

Oct 2014 2I was trying to come up with a “spooky” Edgar Allen Poe raven thing, but failed when I added “Boo to you”!  I still like it, though!

The background is made by using a “mask” cut from Labels Collection Framelits.  I stamped it with Gorgeous Grunge in Sahara Sand ink.  Leaves & raven are stamped in Elegant Eggplant using Choose Happiness.  Blossoms are from Summer Silhouettes and Boo to You is from a Hostess Set called Good Greetings.  I received that set FREE at convention!!  Love when that happens!!!

Oct 2014 3Time to check out what Crystal and Anne have done with their calendars this month!  They always have new ideas, so check them out!!

Blues and Greens

Usually, when I make a card, I find myself adding a lot of layers and embellishments.  This time I was going for SIMPLE!  And I just love the results!

  • Stamp Sets: Summer Silhouettes, Nuts About You
  • Colors:  Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White (2 1/2 X 3)

IMG_6399Found the idea from Susan Raihala’s blog.  Thanks, Susan!!

Then I tried it again using darker colors…

  • IMG_6400
  • Colors:  Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo, Wild Wasabi

Which one do you like best?  I can’t decide.  Love them both, & love this stamp set!!

April is here!

Happy April Fool’s Day!  I’ve basically stopped playing April Fool’s jokes on people.  I discovered several years ago that my jokes were way too convincing and the whole thing backfired on me!  Now I send flowers or cards to my employees instead!  Long story…

Here’s the calendar post for April:April 2014 calendar

This quick calendar page uses Summer Silhouettes, one of my favorite stamp sets!  Colors are Tempting Turquoise, Crumb Cake, and Midnight Muse.

I’m hoping these April showers don’t last too long!  It’s getting very soggy up here in Haiku!

Now you need to check out what Crystal and Anne have come up with for their calendars.  They always have something original & very pretty!

Zoo Baby Shower Ideas Zoo Babies

I’ve had a request for Zoo Baby Shower Ideas.  What a cute theme for a Baby Shower!!  We’ll be making these at my class on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 2-4pm.  We’ll also make a Birthday card & Sympathy card & something else, too.

Cost is $12 or FREE with your $20 order placed that day.  RSVP.

I’m going to start posting directions  on most of my cards.  This is mainly for me, so that I can easily duplicate a card/sketch without a lot of measuring.  Hopefully you’ll make good use of my directions, too. Zoo Baby Card

Stamp Set:  Zoo Babies & Cuddles & Kisses

WW 5 1/4 X 4 & textured with stripes.

Crisp Cantaloupe 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 & WW 3 1/4 X 3. Zoo Train 1

Isn’t this so cute?!!  This little party favor box would be cute filled with some animal cookies (I have a weakness for the pink ones with sprinkles!). Zoo Train 2

Here’s the directions:

Stamp Sets/framelits:  Zoo Babies & Chalk Talk

Used 1 3/8 circle punch for the animal & #3 circle framelit for the blue circle behind that.  (I number my framelits).  Wheels are 3/4 & 1/2″ circle punches.

To make the box:  Start w/CS 2 X 6 1/2″.  Score at 1, 2 3/4, 3 3/4, and 5 1/2.  Turn 45 degrees & score at 3/4″.  Snip along score lines up to the long score line & cut off the small rectangle at the end (the 1″ scored end).  Use sticky strip to adhere.  Clear as mud?!  Let me know if you have any questions.

I think if I was having the shower, I’d line up the train & have different animals in each car!!  Alligator, giraffe, lion, toucan, rhino, giraffe, & monkey!!

Remember my last post? Petal Parade Doily

I had a contest to identify that little gray stamp that looks like fireworks.  The winners are… Marylou Green & Louella Awai!!  They identified the Stamp Set as Summer Silhouettes.  Congratulations!!  Cards are in the mail!

Goodbye Ornament Punch!

It’s that time of year when Stampin’ Up! retires many stamps & products to make room for new things.  One of my favorite punches is retiring:  the Ornament Punch!  If you don’t have it, this is the time to purchase it before supplies run out!

I just got this for a friend for her birthday & added these cards to give her ideas…

Ornament 1

Stamp Sets:  Summer Silhouettes, My Friend

Ornament 2

This gives a pretty effect when you open the card.  I’ve cut out the ornament shape & glued a sheet of Designer Series Paper on the back, so when you open the card, you have a pretty design on the top.  Stamp Sets:  Everything Eleanor & Open Sleigh (retiring).

Ornament 3Ornament 4

To make this card, I used a Stamp Set that’s retiring:  Delightful Decorations.

Last, but not least… a pretty Christmas Card!

Ornament 5

Another retiring favorite:  Tags Till Christmas.  LOVE this set!!!  And, I finally cracked open Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set.  You’ll be seeing a lot of that set!

Hope you’re inspired to do some stampin’!!  Hurry & get these before they run out!  CLICK HERE to see everything that’s retiring.

Thanks for looking!  Cheryl

More canning jars…

Here’s what we’ll be doing at our HATS CLUB (Hopelessly Addicted to Stampin’) this week:

This was a cute idea my upline, Anne, brought back from convention.  I’m going next year, for sure!!  In fact, I could fill this jar with plane ticket money!!  But for club, we’ll be making bookmarks.

Isn’t this stamp set gorgeous!!  It’s called Summer Silhouettes.  And notice the ribbon…SU has a September promotion where you’ll get a FREE SPOOL OF RIBBON with each $40 you spend!  The more you spend, the more free ribbon!

See you at CLUB on Sunday at 1pm.  If you’d like to join us, just reply to this post or give me a call.

Hope to see you there!
