Happy Monday, everyone!
I always look forward to Mondays! Almost every Monday at 10am, I have a Card Class in my home. That means friends, food, & creativity! 3 of my favorite things!! Hope you can join my Monday group sometime. What a great way to start off the week!
Today I’m showing you a fun birthday card we’re making in my Creative Folds Class this morning. Start off by embossing on Glossy Cardstock using White Embossing Powder. It’s difficult to see (white on white), but if you’re patient, you’ll have great results! This is called Embossed Resist Technique.
After embossing, use a stamping sponge or sponge daubers to sponge some color onto the card. I tried this first on Whisper White cardstock, which is fine. But I like the smooth, glossy look you get when you use Glossy White Cardstock! It’s never streaky & it’s so shiny! This card was sponged using Rococo Rose and Pretty Peacock.
Stamp the image & sentiment using StazOn Ink. Be really careful because it tends to slide around!! Color the image using Stampin’ Markers (after the StazOn is COMPLETELY DRY).
Finally, I applied Shimmery Crystal Effects to the wings & let them dry. Can you see it??
One of the benefits of attending my classes is that I make all the mistakes for you!! Ha!
Here’s some of the “challenges” I had coming up with this card:
- Sponging on Whisper White cardstock tended to come out streaky.
- The StazOn image slid around a bit on the Glossy cardstock.
- Tried coloring using Aquapainters, then blender pens, but it tended to pick up the black. Same with Stampin’ Blends.
TECHNIQUE CLASSES
One of my favorite classes is the Technique Classes that I offer in the middle of each month on a Monday and Wednesday. We make 3 cards and a template for our instruction page, that goes in our binder. So far I’ve done:
October 14 & 16 will be Shaker Cards!
I’ve had a few requests for older classes so that my customers can add them to their binders. They are $15/each class and I’m willing to do this to catch you up this month. Leave a comment below if you’d like to receive these.
Have a great week & thanks for stopping by!
Be sure to use this month's Hostess Code: AHJBASBS
