My daughter, Malia, adopted a cat last week.
Malia is in Law School at University of Texas, Austin in her first year. She’s a very social girl and I know this isolation with classes on line has been a struggle for her. So when she asked me about adopting a cat I did the Mom thing and told her all the negative things that could happen, then told her to “Go for it!”
Malia has a big heart and went straight to the shelter to get a cat. She found the sweetest little Tabby cat- actually the cat came over and picked her! Malia loaded up on cat supplies (using her own money this year) and headed home with her new cat, which she named Egwene. I know. It’s out of some Game of Thrones book, I think. Let’s call her Egg.
Well, the next 2 days consisted of Egg pooping and throwing up… no eating. Malia took her to the vet, and $1100 later, the cat has either cancer or an inflamed bowel syndrome. But she’s better today and Malia is optimistic and learning the tricks of giving Egg her medicine. Good training for when she has kids!

Malia deserves a card!
