Aloha Stampers!
How do you feel about working with vellum? For some reason, I have a mental block about it. I think it’s going to be difficult to use on a card. So I challenged my team to use Graceful Greenery Vellum to make cards last month. I must confess, I had an ulterior motive… I needed ideas! Ha! My team is so talented and I got a ton of beautiful vellum ideas that I’ll share with you tomorrow! Don’t miss that!
Today I want to show you the card that I came up with!
This printed vellum reminds me of frosted windows in winter. Well, not on Maui, but you know what I mean…
The vellum really changes depending on what you put behind it. Basic White. Old Olive. Crumb Cake. I’ve used a sheet of Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper behind my vellum. Use glue dots to stick the vellum down, placing the dots wherever you have a branch, so that it doesn’t show.
According to my son in law, Ben, who is a genuine “birder”, this bird is a Tufted Titmouse. I’ve learned so much about birds with Ben & Malia. They always have me play this game with them called Wingspan. Who’s heard of this game? It has stunning illustrations with so many bird facts. The first time I played, I was puzzled over how many “tit” birds there were. Great Tit. Eurasian Blue Tit. Coal Tit. March Tit. Willow Tit. I could go on… Turns out “tit” comes from an old English word meaning “small”.
There are also a bunch of birds called “boobies”. But I’ll save that for another post.
Here are the dimensions for this card:
-
Thick Basic White: 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score at 4 1/4
-
Nests of Winter DSP: 5 1/4 X 4
-
Graceful Greenery Vellum: 5 1/4 X 4
