Aloha Stampers!
One of my favorite things about stamping with other people is seeing how differently we can all interpret the same set of directions.
For our August Island Style Stampers Mystery Stamping Challenge, we made a Dutch door card. Everyone started with the same basic instructions, but we chose our own stamps, Designer Series Paper, colors, and embellishments.
Just look at how different they turned out!
My Butterfly Dutch Door Card

I made mine using soft blues with pops of pink and butterflies. I also added an embossed floral background for some extra texture.

Here you can really see how the Dutch door fold works. Part of the card front is shortened, while the other section extends across the front. It’s a fun fold that’s a little unexpected when you open it!
Lois’s Cards

Lois made two versions, using bright floral paper along with butterflies and flowers. I love seeing how she took the same card layout and changed the focal images to give each card its own look.
Barb’s Card

Barb went in a completely different direction with deep blue, leaves, metallic accents, and lots of texture. This is such a great example of how a fun fold can work with almost any style.
Mona’s Cards

Mona used bright green with beautiful floral paper, creating two different focal points—one with butterflies and one with flowers.
This is why I enjoy Mystery Stamping so much. There really isn’t a “right” way for the finished card to look. The directions give you a place to start, and then you get to make it your own.

🌺 Crafty Tip: Try a fun fold you’ve already made again using completely different paper, colors, and stamps. You may be surprised at how different the finished card looks!
Which of these cards gives you an idea for something in your own craft stash? That’s one of my favorite parts of seeing everyone’s projects—I always come away with another idea I want to try.
