Happy 90th Birthday to my mom!!
Mom turns 90 today and I’m so blessed to have her in my life! Doesn’t she look great?!
I’ve always had a close relationship with my mom. She is very independent and free thinking (especially for a preacher’s wife!)- and has always encouraged and supported me. Unconditional love. Our family moved to Hawaii in 1972, when I was just a freshman in high school, so that Dad could pursue his dream of starting a Christian Servicemen’s Center. Mom was a “mom” to many servicemen and women and spent countless hours hosting and welcoming them in our home. There was always something happening at our house and I gained a huge respect for all veterans!
After Dad passed away about 6 years ago, Mom came to live in our cottage on Maui. We’ve enjoyed this for a long time, but recently Mom has moved into Hale Makua Nursing Home. What a difficult decision that was and still is. Especially with Covid. I’ve been able to have visits with her pretty often, but it’s difficult for her to understand what I’m saying when I’m wearing a mask. I look forward to Maui opening up so that I can take her places! Church, shrimp tempura, see her kitty…
Today the nursing home is on lockdown. I can’t see her but will drop off a cake and flowers and some goodies. Here’s the card I made for her:
Eden’s Garden
This is a Pinwheel Tower Card made with products from the Eden’s Garden Suite that just came out TODAY! This gorgeous paper and the jewels are available only while supplies last!
Here’s a YouTube video to help you make this card at home!
Mahalo!
I want to thank all of you who’ve sent cards to Mom!! I put it out on Facebook a couple of weeks ago and her nurse says she must have received 100 cards!! Even cards from Germany and Australia! She’s enjoying them so much and I’m very touched that all of you would do this to brighten up her special day.
Here’s a few pictures you might enjoy…
I love you, Mom! Happy Birthday!

You can tell what a sweet and kind person your Mom is just by looking at her face. You’ve both been blessed by having each other in your lives! May God continue to bless her and you through your separation. I was reading Romans 8 this morning and verse 28 reminded me that “We know that in everything God works for good. . .” Hopefully that thought will help to sustain the both of you especially at this time.
God bless.

Thanks so much for sharing that, Elaine! I’ll focus on that uplifting verse today!
