I’m so excited & honored to be nominated to participate in the Creative Blog Hop! Anne Matasci, my upline and super-talented crafty person, nominated me. Thanks, Anne! Where to start? I pulled out some things that I’d been wanting to play with for a long time. I’ve had the French Fry Box for a couple of months, thinking I’d use it for Christmas, but just didn’t have time to open the package! Now’s my chance!
These were so quick & simple to put together!! I cut a small piece of Best Year Ever DSP (FREE SAB item!) to line the back of the boxes. The stamp set is from Cycle Celebration punched out using Decorative Label & Large Oval Punches. I just love the Calypso Coral Pompom Trim!! It’s held in place using 2014-2016 In Color Clothespins (which happen to be on the Weekly Deals this week). The tag is from the FREE Sale-a-Bration set called Big Day.
And, finally, a matching card:
I love the colors in this DSP! One great thing about using DSP (Designer Series Paper) is that it takes all the thinking out of which colors to choose…just use any colors in the DSP and you have a perfect color combo! Here I’ve used Crushed Curry, Pool Party, & Chocolate Chip. For the tag & the inside of the card I’ve used Amazing Birthday Stamp Set.
The buttons & ribbon are also FREE through SAB! Sale-a-Bration is Stampin’ Up!’s most popular promotion and is running now through March 31st. For each $50 you spend, you can choose a FREE Sale-a-Bration item!
Part of the Creative Blog Hop is to answer a few questions about yourself, so here goes…
1. What are you working on?
I have a couple of fun projects I’m working on now. I just started working at a Podiatry Office (shout out to Island Podiatry…woohoo!). We’re just setting up shop and I’m the nurse/receptionist/office manager all in one. I think the office needs a personal touch, which would mean… decorated clipboards & pens, pretty tissue boxes, a container for sugar-free candy, a woman’s foot & man’s foot for the bathroom key, maybe even a ‘Happy Feet Banner”. Any other ideas?? I could really get carried away with this idea!
The other project is Disney-related. My daughter, Malia, has just started an internship at Disney University, a life-long dream of hers!! I want to send a Disney-themed goodie box to her & her roommates.
2. How does your work differ from others in your genre?
That’s a tough one. When I make a card, I want the receiver to be pleasantly surprised when they open it! So I try to make the inside very special. I always stamp the outside of my envelopes, too, so that they are excited to see inside. Once I even had the Mail-lady knock on my door to see where all the cute mail was coming from! She ended up signing up to be a demonstrator with me!
3. Why do you create what you do?
I’ve enjoyed making things since I was a kid. I remember decorating my room with mobiles, ornaments, and banners I had made. I love having small gifts to give to friends & coworkers…filled with goodies. The ideas are endless with Stampin’ Up! One of most unexpected things I’ve gained from stamping are the close friendships!
4. How does your creative process work?
I usually start copying an idea from Pinterest (yes…I’m addicted!) and end up changing it around using the things I have available. Or it can begin with something I like (a napkin, postage stamp, dress in a catalog) and I’ll use those colors or theme. I’m definitely a messy crafter!!! Creative chaos seems to be my theme & it makes me happy!
Now I’d like to nominate 2 bloggers to continue this blog hop!
The first one is Lauren Winemiller. I met her at Convention & she swapped with me, giving me a cute little, teeny bag with the tutorial. You’ll enjoy all the cute ideas on her blog!
The second person is someone I stumbled upon while browsing Pinterest. Michelle Long is very creative and I ended up pinning a bunch of her creations!
Also, please go to my friend, Crystal Kondo’s blog & check out her post. She & I were both nominated by Anne for today and I can’t wait to see what she’s come up with!!

Love the DSP in the back of the fry box…and I did NOT need that ridiculous pom pom trim until just this minute – THANKS.
I completely agree that your finishing touches are what sets your work apart. Beautiful interiors, stamped envelopes, all the little details you add…those are the things that make your projects so special.
We need a lunch date soon!
