Tropical Oasis
When I saw this new suite, Tropical Oasis, I knew it was going to get plenty of use from me! Perfect for Maui!! It took me several days to create this sampler. I hope you like the finished wall hanging!! It’s pretty bright with the real red background, but I LOVE IT!
Aloha Shirt
My favorite part about the whole thing is the ALOHA SHIRT!! It’s so adorable!! I looked at several tutorials for these then adapted mine to fit into my sampler. And all the stitched dies make it really cute, don’t you think?!
The little aloha die from In the Tropics Dies was too small for what I wanted. So I cut out the ALOHA using Hand Lettered Prose Dies on the Copper Foil Sheets and Pool Party (see just below the foil sheets?). I popped them all up using skinny pieces of dimensionals.
The pineapple base and the background are both cut from Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper. I ran the background paper through the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder to give it some texture. And the leaves were brayered and splattered before cutting them out- thanks to some great tips from Patty Bennett!

Plumerias!
My favorite Hawaiian flower! They come in many colors and I’ve made many, many leis using flowers picked from my yard. And they smell divine! The quintessential Hawaiian lei flower.
I had to make a restful beach scene! Pulled out my set, High Tide, to make this square.
And finally, I had to have a picture of this car on there! This car is a Woody Body Style Car. A woodie is a type of station wagon where the rear car bodywork is constructed of wood. We had one of these when I was in 7th grade & I remember being embarrassed driving around in it! Didn’t know how cool we were! Ha!
