Aloha Stampers!

Each week I’m sharing a favorite color combination to give you a little inspiration for your next card. Sometimes the colors come from Designer Series Paper, and sometimes—as with this week’s combination—they come together while I’m working on a project.
For this August mini calendar, I wanted something a little bolder and more unexpected. The gears and chain gave me an industrial feel, so I paired these four colors:
❤️ Poppy Parade
🧡 Cajun Craze
💙 Pretty Peacock
🩶 Smoky Slate
I love how Poppy Parade and Cajun Craze add warmth and energy, while Pretty Peacock gives the combination a rich contrast. For the Smoky Slate, I stamped off the ink first to make it lighter and softer in the background.
🌺 Crafty Tip: Stamping off is an easy way to get more mileage from your ink pads! Stamp your image once on scrap paper before stamping it onto your project, and you’ll get a lighter version of the same color. You can even stamp off more than once to create several shades.
This combination is definitely a little different from the soft floral palettes I often reach for, and that’s part of the fun! Sometimes trying an unexpected group of colors is all it takes to give a project a completely different personality.
What do you think of this combination? Is there a color here you wouldn’t normally think to put with the others?
Sharing Aloha one card at a time! 🌺
Cheryl
