Around the World on Wednesday- Layer Up

Cheryl · March 9, 2022 · 18 Comments

Aloha and welcome to another edition of the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! Twenty of my Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator friends are joining me in this worldwide blog that stretches all the way from New Zealand to Hawaii across twelve different time zones.

The general theme for this month is “Layer Up”.

Friends are Like Seashells Card

I like to use several layers on all my cards.  We have such pretty colors and I think adding a sliver of color helps to pull out that color from the main image and just step up the card a little.  The seashell on this card is die cut then embossed using Seashells 3D embossing folder, adding so much texture and beauty!

I was inspired to make this card by Robbie Susan Chandler.

There are several things I really love about this card:

  1. The Retiform Masking Technique is so unusual and simple!
  2. That seashell has a die cut and is embossed!
  3. Those cute Faux Sea Glass Shapes!

I love retiform and haven’t used it in ages – thank you for the inspiration to use it again. I love the subtlety you’ve created with it, over the silvery ocean. This is such a beauty!

Hey ! I love ! It’s been ages since I’ve used this technique and I think it’s really perfect for the theme. It gives the impression of volume and layers when there are none. It’s a superb trompe l’oeil, perfect! Well done and thank you for sharing!
