Aloha and welcome to another edition of the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop! Twenty of my Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator friends are joining me in this worldwide blog that stretches all the way from New Zealand to Hawaii across twelve different time zones.
Today our theme is: March Blues Monochrome Color Challenge!
I’m always surprised at how well monochrome colored cards turn out! Well, Stampin’ Up! has some amazing blues!!
I made two cards just playing around. Let me know which card you like best!
Here’s what I came up with:
This was my leftover card, but it turned out to be my favorite! I started by adding some Balmy Blue to my Basic White base using a Blending Brush on a corner, then I placed my Foursquare Stencil on that area and stenciled Blueberry Bushel X’s over the Balmy Blue.
The “love you lots” is from the Tropical Leaf set found in our Online Exclusives. This left a big white space so I’ve added some sequins.
Here’s a look at my other card:
As you can see, I’ve gone a little stencil crazy! I love the look on my envelope flaps!!
This is one of my favorite sentiments – from Something Fancy. I find I need to use it quite often!
Here are the dimensions for these cards:
- Balmy Blue card base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
- Azure Afternoon: 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Blueberry Bushel: 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Basic White: 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″ (cut 2- one for the inside)
I hope this project has inspired you to try this fun technique!

Two very pretty cards Cheryl. Tough to choose, but I am drawn to the “stencil crazy” card! 🙂 Love the random stencilling mixed with the sponging! xxx
Thanks Cheryll.
Love how you used the stencils on your cards, Cheryl! Definitely something I need to use more often! Also thanks for reminding me of where to find my most favorite birthday sentiment that I lost amongst my stamp sets!!! xx
Thank you, Angie!
Great card! Using stencils is such a great idea! We definitely don’t use them enough! Bravo !
Thanks Aurelie! Yes, stencils are really fun to use!
