Aloha Stampers!
Last week we had a class to make a JOY Christmas banner, and we had such a good time putting these together. But once we finished our banners, we started wondering—could we turn the same idea into a card?
Of course, once that idea was out there, we had to try it!
A Little Banner Mishap
We also had a good laugh during class. We carefully lined up our J-O-Y pieces, turned everything over to attach the ribbon…and discovered we had Y-O-J!
This photo of Helen was taken right about the time we realized what we’d done. Thankfully, it was an easy fix—and definitely one of those moments that makes crafting with friends so much fun.
Turning the Banner Into a Card
After class, I kept thinking about how cute those individual banner pieces would look on a Christmas card. I came up with this accordion fold card, and I love how it turned out!
The three panels give you the perfect place for the J-O-Y, and because of the accordion fold, the card stands up beautifully for display. It’s almost like sending someone a little Christmas decoration along with their Christmas card.
I used the same colors and Designer Series Paper as the banner, along with the large letters and little holly accents.
And It Folds Up!
One of my favorite things about this card is that after all that JOY on the inside, it folds up into a regular-looking Christmas card.
The simple greeting on the front gives just a little hint of what’s waiting when you open it.
🌺 Crafty Tip: When you’re making a project you really enjoy, look at the individual pieces and ask yourself, “How else could I use this?” A banner, scrapbook element, or home décor project might just inspire your next card.
