Aloha and welcome to our Island Style Stampers Blog Hop! Our small but mighty team is bursting with creativity, and we’d love for you to visit each of our blogs to gather inspiration and share your thoughts.
Our theme this month is Mom’s Kitchen: A Taste of Love!
We thought it would be fun to share a favorite recipe from our moms, in honor of Mother’s Day! I’ve chosen to include a recipe for Mom’s Wine Cake. She used to make this for special occasions… dusted with powdered sugar. It’s even better with a dollop of whipped cream sprinkled with a few berries!
Wine Cake
Alberta Smith
1 Yellow or White Cake Mix ¾ cup oil
¾ cup Sherry 4 eggs
1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding 1 tsp. nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour bundt pan. Combine all ingredients in mixer and beat for 5 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes then remove cake to rack. Garnish with whipped cream or dust with powdered sugar and sliced strawberries.
My mom passed away last year at age 94. She and I were always very close & talked every day. When I think of Mom, I remember her unconditional love, her talent for knitting and needlework, her beautiful singing voice, delicious home cooking, and her unshakable faith in God.
Here’s a card I made in honor of Mom. I hope you like it!
