Mermaid Soup Recipe

Today’s post is a little of a stretch… but I’m just having fun with it!  The SSINK Team members are posting their favorite soup recipes and my family just LOVES my clam chowder!  Clams, cream, & bacon!  Yum!!  Can’t go wrong!

So, how do you make a clam chowder card?  I’m not sure, but I CAN make a Mermaid card and she swims around with clams, right?

Ink, Spray, Smash Technique

I pulled out my Glossy Paper to make a shiny water scene with the Ink, Spray, & Smash Technique.  See more about that technique HERE.  I used Bermuda Bay & Pineapple Punch Reinkers, sprayed them with a little water using the Stampin’ Spritzers, and smooshed 2 Glossy Sheets Together.

It’s really a fun technique and no card is alike.

I’ll list the supplies at the end of this post so that you can try it yourself at home!

Clam Chowder

1 diced onion

1 cup diced celery

2 cups diced potatoes

2 cans chopped clams

3 slices bacon

3/4 cup butter

3/4 cup flour

1 quart half & half

Salt & pepper

Sugar

In very large saucepan, place onions, potatoes, & celery.  Pour clam juice over them, then add enough water to cover them.  Simmer 20 minutes or until potatoes are done.

In the meantime, fry bacon & break into small pieces.  Set aside.  Melt butter.  Add flour & whisk until smooth.  Add half & half.  Whisk.  Cook to thicken.  Pour cream mixture into vegetables.  Season with salt, pepper, & sugar.  Last, add clams & bacon.  Heat.  DO NOT BOIL!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure & let me know if you try my Clam Chowder Recipe!!  And also, if you’d like more recipes mixed in with cards… 2 of my favorite things!
