Paper Pumpkin Possibilities: Aspens of Gratitude

Welcome to another Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop! This month we’re sharing alternate ideas using the Aspens of Gratitude Paper Pumpkin Kit, and this one brought back some wonderful memories for me.

My husband and I lived in Colorado for three years, and my favorite time of year was fall. I loved seeing the aspen trees turn those gorgeous shades of yellow and gold. So you can imagine how much I enjoyed opening this kit!

An Aspens of Gratitude Gatefold Card

For my first alternate, I made a gatefold card using the beautiful pieces from the kit.

I made the card base with Cajun Craze cardstock and added layers of Golden Glow cardstock. Everything else you see on the card came from the Aspens of Gratitude kit.

I especially like the way the two sides of the aspen scene come together when the card is closed, with the “beyond grateful” greeting right in the center.

When you open the two sides, there’s plenty of room inside for the greeting and a handwritten note.

A Little Pool Party Changes Everything

I made one more alternate with the kit, and this one was really simple.

The original scene was already beautiful, but I wanted a little more color in the sky. I pulled out a Blending Brush and Pool Party ink and lightly blended color over the background.

It only took a few seconds, but look at the difference it made! The soft blue really helps those yellow and orange fall trees stand out.

I finished the card with Radiant Gems for a little sparkle.

🌺 Crafty Tip: Don’t be afraid to add a little ink to the printed pieces in your Paper Pumpkin kit. A few seconds with a Blending Brush can change the look while still letting the original artwork do most of the work.
